Auto Insurance Reform
My #1 priority is reforming auto no-fault insurance. We have the highest auto insurance rates in the country and we’re $1000 more a year than the next highest cost state. During my 1st term as a legislator, I voted in-favor of a plan that would have guaranteed savings to consumers by giving them more choices on their level of coverage. While this vote fell short, I won’t stop fighting until we give the people of Michigan the relief they deserve.

The 99th district is extremely lucky to have some amazing educators. Unfortunately, for far too long they have been asked to do more with less. During my first two years as your state representative, I fought to increase per pupil funding and at-risk funding for our local schools. They are now receiving the highest level of funding in their history.
However, there is still work to be done. I have many friends and family members who are educators that aren’t seeing it in their paycheck. The truth is pension and health care costs have been gobbling up our record funding levels. We need to continue to increase funding for our educators so they can get a much deserved raise.
I drive on the same roads you do. I get it, we need to seriously overhaul them, but it won’t happen overnight. For decades, not a single state general budget dollar was invested in the transportation system, resulting in the crumbling roads and bridges of today. That’s why I voted to invest $4 billion into road improvements so we can get the roads back on track.
